"The Lane" is a road which runs for a short distance alongside the Arlesdale Railway, with no fence to separate the two. It is located near Arlesdale Green. The road itself is susceptible to forming puddles during the rain.
It was here that two visiting clergymen accidentally splashed Bert with their car. During wool season, bales of wool from nearby farms are loaded into trucks here.
