Plot[]
One morning, Thomas spots something in James' cab. It is a teddy bear, which James tells Thomas that this is his new mascot as his guard had found it left behind in one of his coaches. He also claims it brings good luck. Thomas thinks it would be great fun to have a mascot and tells James he will tell his guard to keep an eye out. However, Thomas' driver clarifies that things should be put in the lost property office and James' teddy bear is lost property that has not been claimed.
The next afternoon, Thomas is outside the lost property office and finds a little girl named Jess looking very sad after leaving the office. Her mother mentions to her about getting a new teddy bear but Jess only wants the one she lost. Thomas' driver tells the mother to stay behind and Thomas quickly set off.
Thomas finds James and explains the situation. James feels sorry for Jess and gives the teddy bear back. In the sheds that night, James admits that his mascot was lucky as it made a child happy. Thomas and James then both agree that engines do not need mascots.
