The Mountain Road was a section of the Mid Sodor Railway that climbs a steep mountain. It was a difficult part of the line and all engines must keep a good look out. Falcon once came off the line here, but was saved by Duke. A workman's cottage is located nearby, where passengers had once got water buckets from to fill water into Duke's boiler.

- According to concept art during the fourth series, the tunnel was referred to as Sir Handel's Tunnel.
