The Railway Foghorn was an experimental warning machine.
History[]
The foghorn was intended to be used to warn the engines and their crews of fog on the lines ahead. It was initially tested on the Misty Valley Branch Line, with the intention of replacing Cyril the Fogman.
On its first trial it ended up causing a landslide, which - rather ironically - crushed the foghorn. When Cyril came to the rescue of Thomas, who had crashed into said landslide, Sir Topham Hatt decided to reinstate his role on the railway. It was retrieved from the rubble and never seen again.
