Behind the Scenes

Gauge 1 model

The Spiteful Brake Van’s models were built to run on gauge 1 track. Two models of the Spiteful Brake Van were built. The main model was built out a gauge 1 kit made by Tenmille. The second model was custom built out of plywood and was used in the scene where the Spiteful Brake Van was crushed by Douglas.

Three different facial expressions were sculpted for the Spiteful Brake Van. The faces were first sculpted in clay and from that resin casts were made using a silicone mould. In the episode, Percy's Predicament, one of the Spiteful Break Van’s faces was reused for a Troublesome Truck.
