The Unlucky Engine! is a magazine story.
Plot
Donald and Douglas are overworked, so the Fat Controller borrows an engine from the mainland to help. The engine, Thirteen, considers himself to be unlucky, but does his best to help, although his bad luck soon gets the better of him and the twins. The next day, Thirteen gets stuck in a landslide and is sent to the Works. Thirteen thinks he is going to be scrapped, but the Fat Controller tells him that he is going to have a bigger firebox fitted. After his repairs, Thirteen's bad luck disappears. At the end of his visit, Thirteen tells Donald and Douglas he is going home as a very lucky engine.

Goofs
- In the first illustration, Donald is either missing his siderods and his wheels are undersized, or is depicted as a 2-6-0 The same can possibly said for Douglas, however his wheels aren't shown.
