Thomas's Christmas is a magazine story. The first part of this story is titled Thomas' Present.
Plot[]
Thomas delivers his last train on Christmas Eve but is surprised to see the station is still crowded with people, including carollers for a church service, as James should have picked them up by now. The Fat Controller hurries up and informs Thomas that, due a frozen turntable, the tender engines are trapped in the shed and Thomas must take James' train. Thomas' crew is disappointed as they had plans to go to the church carol service, but the Fat Controller reminds them that if Thomas does not make this delivery, there will not be a service.
Thomas goes off to get extra coaches and passes the shed. Henry, Gordon and James are feeling miserable but Edward cheers Thomas on. By the time they reach the church, it is all lit up and music has begun playing. Thomas' crew decides they will just have to go to the service next year. With all that has happened, Thomas feels it will not be a happy Christmas.
When Thomas returns to the station, he is surprised to see Edward, who informs him that the turntable has been unfrozen and that he has been pulling a special train. The Vicar walks up and informs Thomas that he and the carollers have decided to bring the carols to Thomas and his crew. After the first carol, the Fat Controller presents Thomas with a big parcel. Inside is a brand new whistle for Thomas!
