- "I'll deliver the battery at super-light speed!"
- ― Thomas
Thomas Blasts Off! is a magazine story illustrated using images from the All Engines Go series.
Plot[]
It is the day of the big rocket launch on Brendam Docks and the engines are very excited. They are asked to deliver parts of the rocket to the launch site, so that the rocket can take off before the arrival of a big storm. Gordon takes the nose cone, Nia takes the shell and Kana takes the booster. That leaves Thomas with the task of carrying the battery. Thomas is disappointed, but Gordon reminds him that the battery may be small, but it is extremely important. Thomas is still upset so he leaves the battery and follows the other engines.
It's not long before Nia gets stuck. The rocket's shell is too big to fit in the tunnel. Thomas tries to trick Nia into giving him the shell to pull by pretending the tunnel is a black hole. Nia is having none of it, she just wants Thomas to switch the points so she can go around the tunnel to the docks. Thomas decides to act as Nia's escort and puffs with her to Brendam.
Later, Thomas is chugging back to get the battery when he meets Kana stuck in the mud. At Kana's instruction, Thomas hops behind Kana and the booster to give a push. With that, all the pieces arrive at Brendam and everything is assembled, but the battery is still missing. Without it, the rocket cannot launch. Thomas promises to deliver the battery at super-light speed.
Thomas gets back with the battery just in time. Kana pushes the launch button and all the engines wait. The rocket takes off and zooms into the night sky. Gordon tells Thomas that he has saved the launch and Thomas has learned that everyone's job is important, no matter how big or how small.
