Goofs

  • In the first illustration, Thomas, Percy and James shared a berth in the engine shed, but in the fourth illustration, Percy is seen in his own berth.
  • Throughout the book, the top of the engines' funnels are coloured white instead of black.
  • In the first illustration, James' smokebox saddle is painted red instead of black.
  • Thomas' coal bunker lines are missing and the inside of his cab is painted yellow with blue buttons and levers instead of them being all black.
  • In the fourth illustration:
    • Henry's boiler band is painted red.
    • Part of Gordon's smokebox is blue.
    • Part of Edward's smokebox is oddly drawn.
    • Percy's cabside window and coal are both not painted.
    • In one illustration, Annie's nameplate is missing, while in another one, Clarabel is facing the wrong way.
