Thomas the Tank Engine Wiki

Thomas Gets a Wash is a magazine story.

Plot[]

After a hot and sunny week, Thomas is looking forward to being cleaned. Just as the cleaners are about to begin, the telephone rings and Thomas is asked to go and help Percy deal with some trucks. Thomas is disappointed but does so without fuss.

On his way back to the washdown, he meets James who has just been cleaned and teases Thomas for being dirty as he passes. When Thomas arrives, the cleaners explain that they have just used all their water to clean James and ask him to come back tomorrow. Again, Thomas is not happy, but understands that nothing can be done.

Thomas finally gets his washdown the next day and comes away pleased with himself and looking clean. Thomas' first job after being cleaned is to help Percy with some more trucks. When he arrives, he sees Percy having trouble with some silly coal trucks. Percy gives one of the trucks a hard bump and accidentally knocks it into Thomas, covering him in coal. Thomas is most frustrated, having just been cleaned. The Fat Controller, trying not to laugh, suggests that he goes back in the evening to get cleaned again.
