Thomas Loses His Driver is a magazine story.

Plot[]

Thomas is feeling especially cheeky one day and makes fun of Gordon's speed, Henry's fear of rain and Edward's age. Edward is so upset that he nearly over-runs the platform. The drivers of the three engines complain to Thomas' driver about his engine's behaviour. Thomas' driver scolds him by threatening to leave him in the shed and that he could possibly end up in the scrap yard. Thomas does not like this idea at all.

That afternoon, Thomas is on his way back to the shed when he stops suddenly. His driver tells him to wait and he runs off, leaving Thomas confused. Thomas waits quite a while and begins to worry if his driver truly was going to leave him behind to be scrapped. The guard goes off to look and he soon hurries back with urgent news. They must quickly get to the next station as the driver is in trouble. He had seen a lamb falling off a cliff and wanted to make sure it was alright, but he ended up falling too and they are now both trapped on a ledge.

The fireman drives Thomas to the station where Harold is sent out to rescue the driver and the lamb. Thomas is glad they are safe and apologises for how cheeky he had been.
