"I saw a rabbit as big as my driver!"
― Percy

Thomas and Hoppy is a magazine story.

Plot[]

One morning, Thomas steams across his branch line when he notices a rabbit standing on his hind legs and hopping away. He relays this encounter to Percy, who hopes to see one when he travels down the line. While taking some trucks to a station, he suddenly sees a giant rabbit the size of his driver, although Thomas does not believe him. The following day, Thomas then sees the giant rabbit for himself jumping across the track. He races back to the station, where his driver tells Sir Topham Hatt what they had seen. However, when Sir Topham Hatt calls the Sodor Wildlife Park, it turns out that the "giant rabbit" is actually Hoppy, a kangaroo which had escaped from the park. Thomas fetches the park manager to retrieve Hoppy and get her safely back to the park. When they return, a young kangaroo suddenly peeps out from Hoppy's pouch, to which Thomas jokes that Percy will be hopping mad that he missed Baby Hoppy.
