Thomas and the Campers is a magazine story.
Plot[]
Near the station at the end of Thomas' branch line, there is a big wooden coal bunker where Thomas collects his coal. One day, Thomas is collecting a group of children from Henry at the station by the Main Line. The group disembarks at a station in the middle of nowhere, where Thomas notices everyone is carrying equipment. A little girl explains to him that they are going camping.
When Thomas next passes the station, he notices the passengers have set up a campsite with tents, a flag and a bonfire. Thomas wishes he could join the fun.
Later that afternoon, it rains for some time. It has cleared up by the time Thomas next passes the campsite, however everyone at the site is now gathered around the campfire area and a few of the children are crying. When Thomas stops and his driver asks what the matter is, a little boy explains that the campfire will not light so they can no longer gather around it to have dinner and sing songs.
Thomas asks his driver if the Fat Controller will mind if he gives them some of his coal and his driver agrees that he would not. A new fire is made using coal from Thomas' bunker. The campers cook sausages and give some to Thomas' driver and fireman and Thomas stays for a while to join the campers while they sing songs.
