Plot[]

One day, while working on the Brazilian Railway, Thomas notices everyone is busier than usual. At the docks, Gabriela tells Thomas about how many jobs she has to do and Thomas offers to help her by collecting wood from the eucalyptus plantation.

When Thomas arrives at the far-away eucalyptus plantation, he meets two wood-burning steam engines called Marcia and Marcio. They tell Thomas that they have never left the plantation and long to see the world. Thomas offers to swap jobs with them. So, while Thomas stays at the eucalyptus plantation, the two forest engines head to Rio with Thomas' load of wood.

Marcio and Marcia are thrilled to see the sights, but they soon run out of wood to burn and have to use the wood they are supposed to be delivering.

As the day comes to an end, Thomas is concerned that his new friends haven't returned and decides to go and look for them. At the docks, Thomas asks Emerson to help him spot the wood-burning duo. From high up in the air, Emerson spots Marcio and Marcia in no time at all; they are stuck on a siding with no more wood to burn. Thomas rushes back to the eucalyptus plantation to fetch them some more fuel. Thomas is sorry for suggesting the job swap, but Marica and Marcio are not sorry at all - they have enjoyed their own big adventure.
