Thomas and the Old House is a magazine story.
Plot[]
One day, Thomas is delivering animal feed to the hill farms. His usual route is being repaired so he must go a different way. The line Thomas uses is old and overgrown but Thomas likes mystery journeys and wonders what he will see.
Thomas passes by an old wall that has crumbled in the middle. Through the hole, Thomas sees a large house and garden. Thomas thinks the house must have been splendid in the past. He is so busy thinking about the house that he almost runs into the pile of crumbled bricks on the line.
Once the line is cleared and his delivery is made, Thomas returns to the main station and tells The Fat Controller about his find. The Fat Controller is excited and, the next morning, he tells Thomas that he has been in touch with the old house's owners and bought it. Thomas takes engineers to the old house and they repair the house and clear the garden for many weeks. Soon, the area becomes a country park and tea house for the people of Sodor, which makes Thomas feel very proud.
