- The book contains a number of adapatational changes from the original episodes:
- Sonny's role is omitted.
- Gordon, Rebecca, Sir Robert Norramby and Ruth's roles in the chase are omitted.
- Sir Topham Hatt catches Baz and Bernie by picking them up using Metal Man, rather than stopping Baz from escaping by blocking his path.
- There is a small biography on the Reverend W. Awdry at the end of the book.
