Goro[]

Goro (Japanese: ゴロー) is a tender engine from Hokkaido in Japan. He is one of Hiro's brothers.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

Goro is based on a Japanese National Railways (JNR) Class D51 2-8-2 "Mikado", specifically the early type (Namekuji) that was built between 1936–1937 by Kawasaki in Japan. Hiro, his brothers, D51 1, D51 398 and D51 791 are standard type members of this class.

Trivia[]

  • Goro may be named after the close friend of the protagonist, Hiro (whose name is shared with his brother), from the Japanese anime Darling in the Franxx.

Lilac[]

Lilac (Japanese: ライラック) is a Japanese limited express electric multiple unit from Hokkaido.

Basis[]

Lilac is based on a 789-0 series. These were built between 2002 and 2005, to run Super Hakuchō services and received various modifications throughout the years. These units were later displaced from these duties in March 2016 after the construction of the Hokkaido Shinkansen route. During March of the following year, these units were reallocated to Lilac limited express services between Sapporo and Asahikawa.

Livery[]

Lilac has a grey passenger section and a green cab section with a blue band between them.

Kaito[]

Kaito (Japanese: カイト) is a high-speed electric engine from Hokkaido in Japan.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

Kaito is based on a H5 series Shinkansen. These are based on the E5 series units, with minor modifications for working the Hokkaido Shinkansen line. Four of these units were produced: three by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, one by Hitachi Rail.

Livery[]

Kaito is painted in the same livery worn by the real H5 series: teal on the upper half and white on the lower half, with a thin purple band between.

Appearances[]

Notes[]

  • Like with Ryusei, the lack of a non-standard spot for a face means that Kaito's face replaces the windscreen on his basis and is angled much higher than normal.

Kisuke[]

Kisuke (Japanese: キスケ) is a large railway snowplough from Hokkaido in Japan.

Technical Details[]

Basis[]

Kisuke is based on the Japanese National Railways (JNR) Ki-100 Russell Snowploughs, introduced in December 1956. Most of these types of snowploughs were withdrawn before the division and privatisation of the JNR in 1987, though two (Ki-176 and Ki-276) were inherited by JR Hokkaido. While both of JR Hokkaido's examples were scrapped, fourteen other Ki-100s have survived into preservation.[1]

Livery[]

Kisuke is painted plain black.
