- “That's not Thomas!"
"No! It's all of us!” - ― Gordon and Percy
Thomas and the Statue is the fifteenth episode of the ninth series.
Plot
Winter is coming to Sodor. A statue has been ordered to celebrate the North Western Railway and Thomas is sent to collect it from Brendam Docks. At Brendam Docks, Thomas is very eager to see the statue. Cranky asks if it is because Thomas thinks that it might be of him, which makes Thomas think it is as the statue's shape, outlined by the tarpaulin, is similar to his own. That night, Thomas cannot wait to tell his friends, but they are all fast asleep. So he wakes up Percy, who tells Thomas that having a statue of himself is nice.
The next morning, all of the engines are sent to have a washdown whilst Thomas collects other things for the statue ceremony. Thomas tells Edward and Emily about the statue, but it makes them very angry. They tell him it may not be his statue, but Thomas does not listen. When he begins to tell Percy about it, Percy becomes fed up and tells him that he and the other engines do not want to hear about "his statue" or talk to him anymore, making Thomas feel surprised and very sad. After his jobs, Thomas heads back to Tidmouth, determined to put things right with his friends.
However, the Fat Controller is there and is worried; the snow has blocked the tracks to Abbey where the statue ceremony is to take place. Thomas kindly offers to clear the tracks of the snow, much to the other engines's surprise, since they know that Thomas hates his snowplough and it would make him late to see the statue, but the Fat Controller agrees. Thomas sets to work and feels bad about how silly he has been. Soon all of the tracks to Abbey are clear for the engines. However, they are still mad at Thomas.
Suddenly, the snow starts to melt off of the statue and to everyone's surprise, it is not a statue of just Thomas; it is a statue of the entire Steam Team with the Fat Controller. Even Thomas is relieved when he sees what the statue is truly of and apologises to his friends.

Trivia
- Going by production order, this is the twenty-fourth episode of the ninth series.
- This episode marks the last of a few things:
- The last episode where Percy's yawning face is used.
- The last episode where Cranky's angry/snarling face is used.
- The last episode to air in Germany during Wolf Rüdiger Reutermann's lifetime, as he died from an illness on 7th July 2006, less than 6 months later.
- This episode marks the first appearance of Edward's shocked face since the seventh series episode, Edward's Brass Band.
- As seen in a promotional image, Gordon was intended to have a larger role.
- This is the only time to feature the Steam Team statue at Abbey.
- A behind the scenes photo shows that the statue was to be revealed at Peel instead of Abbey. However, the location is still referred to as Peel Station in the episode. This alternate scene was filmed on 10th November 2004.
- Despite having been released in 2005, this episode was possibly filmed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the television series.
Goofs
- On the US DVD, Engine Friends, stock footage from the start of Thomas and the New Engine is mistakenly used.
- Michael Brandon stutters a bit when he says "All the engines were asleep."
- The narrator states that Thomas arrived at Wellsworth, but it was actually the Brendam Warehouse. Also, Michael Brandon forgets to say the "S" in the station's name.
- When Thomas arrives at Maithwaite, the narrator states that he had to collect a podium, but the flatbed is loaded with parts of a bandstand.
- Because the original version of the location is still intact, it is said that all the engines were able to arrive at Peel Station, when they were really at Abbey.
