Toby the Brave is a magazine story.
Plot[]
Most people and engines are very friendly to Toby and Henrietta, but Diesel is always making rude remarks every time he is in the quarry. This makes Toby very cross, though Henrietta tells him to pay no mind to Diesel.
One morning in the quarry, there is a loud blast that makes Toby jump. Then, there is a loud rumbling noise. Toby looks up and sees that the blast has made some rocks on the hillside loose and they are beginning to fall. Toby shouts an alarm and sees Diesel is in the path of the falling rocks. Toby shunts Diesel out of the way as quick as he can. Unfortunately, Toby is not quick enough to save himself and the rocks bury him and badly dent his roof.
Diesel is very shocked Toby was willing to save him after how rude he was. Toby is nervous when The Fat Controller arrives, but Diesel vouches for him and The Fat Controller informs Toby that he will be mended. Once Toby is mended, Diesel compliments his fresh coat of paint and kind personality while also promising not to tease him anymore.
