Travels with Terence is a magazine story illustrated using images from the All Engines Go series.

Plot[]

One sunny day at McColl's Farm, Thomas and Terence are racing. Terence is happily zooming along the field beside the railway line when he suddenly runs over some rocks and breaks his tread. Thomas offers to take Terence to see Sandy who he hopes can fix the tractor's caterpillar track. Terence is delighted at the prospect of going out on the rails.

Thomas takes Terence to the Maintenance Yard on a flatbed. Terence is delighted to be somewhere new; he never usually leaves the farm. At the yard, Carly is busy making a heart-shaped sculpture, but she lets Sandy know that Thomas and Terence have arrived to see her. Sandy quickly gets to work and it's not long before Terence is fixed. Terence is so pleased that he races around the Maintenance Yard to test his fixed tread. In his excitement, Terence ploughs through a pile of scrap, not knowing that Carly's heart sculpture is right behind it. The sculpture is broken into pieces. Terence feels awful about destroying Carly's project. To cheer the little tractor up, Thomas suggests they explore the island a bit more.

First, Thomas takes Terence to Knapford Station. Terence is overwhelmed by the size of the station. Then, Terence spots Diesel and zooms straight across the tracks to talk to him. By the time he arrives at the station building, Diesel has already departed. In crossing the tracks, Terence has unwittingly caused a great deal of confusion and chaos. Cows are now wandering around the station and James had gotten covered in eggs.

Next, Thomas takes Terence to the beach. Terence has tremendous fun building a giant sandcastle with a moat. Terence has enjoyed his time travelling around Sodor, but now he wants to go home as that's where he always feels his best. Back at McColl Farm, Terence celebrates being home by smashing through a few haybales.
