Trouble on the Track is a magazine story.
Plot[]
One day, Thomas is making his way down the line. He is pleased to see that the points are set and the signal is green at one junction as he usually must wait for bigger engines to pass before switching. Thomas' driver warns Thomas to be careful as they are only switching to the "up" line due to the "down" line being repaired.
Thomas passes the workmen at work and is about to give them a big friendly whistle when suddenly, he sees Henry heading right for him. The two engines brake hard and stop just a foot apart from each other. Thomas and Henry begin to argue about who is in the way of the other and even their drivers join in.
Just then, Edward arrives on the "down" line with more workmen. He explains that the points and signal should have been set in Henry's favour but they are also currently under repair. Henry tells Thomas to get out of his way but Thomas insists he is in the right and will not move. Edward informs him that The Fat Controller wants his engines to be sensible, not stubborn. So Thomas backs up and Henry rudely makes his way up the line. Thomas is upset but is happy in the end when The Fat Controller says how pleased he is that Thomas learned to be sensible.
