The Troublesome Tankers are pieces of rolling stock which carry various liquids on the North Western Railway.

Personalities[]

Like their open wagon counterparts, the Troublesome Tankers delight in mischief and any wise engine knows that they are not to be trusted. If an engine is having a bad day, makes a mistake, or is naive and easily played upon, the tankers begin their tricks. Common antics of the tankers include singing, name-calling, holding back, bumping and teasing the engines.

Trivia[]

  • In the fourth series, the tankers had square-shaped faces shared with the narrow gauge slate trucks and 3-plank trucks. From Journey Beyond Sodor onwards, their faces are rectangular and are shared with the standard gauge slate trucks.
    • While in the model series the tankers' faces sat above the bracing at the front of the tanker, in the CGI series there is a small cutout in the horizontal bracing in order to fit the faces.
