The University of Sodor is a major academic institution on the Island of Sodor.
History[]
The University of Sodor was inaugurated in the late 1990s, and has a focus on ecology and engineering. Many engineers associated with the university have spent time in the facilities at Crovan's Gate Works, which has in turn led to several innovations in modern steam engine technology. Resultingly, steam engines on Sodor are some of the most advanced and efficient in the world.
During the proposal of the Woodhouse Colliery Project in the 2010s, a study was commissioned by the University of Sodor in association with Sir Stephen Topham Hatt III, which found that coal reserved from the Whitehaven coalfield extended to the tip of the northern Sodor coastline.[1]
