The Railway Series

V-Tipper Wagons are a type of narrow gauge truck. They have skips in the centre which can be rotated around an axis to tip their loads.

Talyllyn V-Tipper Wagons[]

These V-Tipper Wagons are commonly used on the Skarloey and Talyllyn Railways.

Biography[]

In its early years, the Skarloey Railway used V-tipper wagons to bring copper down from the mines. Their loads would be tipped into standard gauge trucks of the Sodor and Mainland Railway at Crovan's Gate Wharf.

Decauville V-Tipper Wagons[]

These V-Tipper Wagons were commonly used on the Mid Sodor Railway.

Biography[]

The V-tipper wagons were built at Decauville in France circa 1899. The Mine Engine and five wagons were later shipped to Sodor to work at the Cas-ny-Hawin mines on the Mid Sodor Railway. These wagons would usually be handled by The Mine Engine.
