Yong Bao and the Tiger is an animated short exclusive to the Chinese release of The Great Race.

Plot

Yong Bao is stuck working in the yards while his other friends get to go out and pull coaches. He is always teased by the other engines who come to the yard. One day, Yong Bao spots a tiger, and follow it into the mountains where he spots an engine about to fall off the mountain. Yong Bao races to the rescue and pulls everyone to safety. For his bravery, he is repainted in traditional Chinese colours.

• This short is animated similar to the Great Race Friends Near and Far videos.
• He's So Brave is featured in the short.
• This short was adapted into an episode of the same name for the twenty-fourth series but changes the colour of Yong Bao's running board and cowcatcher from green to grey as well as replacing Da Li and Xiao Hu with The Mean Engines.

Goofs

• Da Li's passengers are cheering when he is hanging over the edge of the mountain.
• Right after being repainted, Yong Bao goes backward, but his steam is also going backward while it should be going forward.
